Ruthy always wanted to be a writer. From the time she made up stories
as a little girl, she longed to tell stories and have people listen. Tearie Dearie and Bubble-cut Barbie were among her first
big fans, a truly appreciative audience! Motherhood provided her with creative release until the kids grew up, moved away and left her little
recourse but to shift gears mid-stream. Like Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, Ruthy had enjoyed a long
list of jobs employing nametags and hairnets, nothing you'd call a career, but like any good mid-life crisis gal, she dreamed
big. She'd be a writer. Yes! That was it! The long-awaited dream
come true. Yee haw!!!!!! As the rejections streamed in, she considered arc-welding but the masks posed a problem. I mean, seriously, on, off,
on, off... How's a girl supposed to do her hair???? Car repair seemed a remote possibility, but you'd have to know how to
open a hood and find... stuff. Gadgets. Thingies. Oily thingies, to boot. And it would probably help to know what those things
do. How an internal combustion engine works. Oh, snap! Filling the oil and the windshield washer fluid just didn't cut it.
Sigh... Eventually she found her way onto more and more editor
desks until one day the phone rang... (And she wasn't home, but that's a whole 'nother story.) Now, with her first book due out from Steeple Hill
Books in March, 2010, Ruthy is quickly penning more fun, heart-warming books about small towns and big cities that
act like small towns. Grab a coffee or a cappuccino. Maybe sweet tea. And a sweet roll or a piece of pie. Ruthy loves
to bake, loves to write, loves to create all kinds of things, and she believes that feeding her company means they won't notice
the dust or smudged fingerprints that offer her house the kind of homey, lived-in feeling you can't buy at a furniture store.
She appreciates you stoppin' by, sharing your time. And if you have any questions as you browse, feel free to e-mail her at

| Ultimate truism: If you plant enough flowers, the dandelions blend in.. |
This nice picture totally misrepresents the current state of my gardens which are accurately referred
to as jungles complete with creepy, crawlies, long-legged beasties, poison ivy and things that go bump in the night. Did I
mention there's a black bear living nearby? And coyotes, fox, deer, turkeys, the occasional rat and muskrat... Dare I go on? But for website purposes, this works. Sweet. Bucolic. Pastoral. Definitely a page from the archives, LOL! Still, since I LOVE gardening and refuse to let poison ivy defeat me, I posted this as a reminder that given time
and circumstance, I too can have a picturesque setting. For a day, at least!

| Winter's long and cold in the North Country... |
Talk about a great, wonderful, marvelous summer!!!! In mid-June Melissa Endlich, Senior Editor of Steeple
Hill Books called to tell me they wanted to publish "Seeking the Garden", the contest-winning fourth book
of my North Country series. That
phone call began a chain of events that garnered me my wonderful literary agent, Wendy Lawton of Books and Such Literary,
a marvelous editorial and support staff in Melissa Endlich and the Steeple Hill crew, and the hope of a long and productive
publishing career, God willing! Now
titled "Winter's End",
Kayla and Marc's story is due out in March, 2010 AND!!! THIS JUST IN!!!!!! Steeple Hill has just contracted "Waiting Out the Storm", the delightful inspirational romance of a young shepherd and the
veterinarian who really, really, truly dislikes sheep. Toss in a criminal history between the two families and it's a wonder
these two are ever able to 'wait out the storm...' Waiting Out the Storm will
be released from Steeple Hill Books in July, 2010!
But,
wait. Yes.
There's more!!!!! Steeple Hill has just contracted a third North Country romance. Brooks' and Rita's story, retitled: Made To Order Family will be released in September, '10. Oh,
YAY!!!!! We are joyfully thanking God, family and friends for their constant love and support of this endeavor. After years of working, waiting, praying, working
and waiting some more, my family's ecstatic, the dogs are quite proud of me and even the cat has a prideful haughtiness to
her stride these days. Of
course, she IS a cat, and they just do that. How can anything that habitually leaves dead mice on the porch be haughty? I
mean, seriously... :) Stay tuned here for further updates as things happen!!! sign this.... Still grinning in Upstate New York

Country
music totally rocks. Seriously.
Not the old stuff. I'm way too new millenium for that, but the new stuff? Darius Rucker?
Dierks Bentley?
Brad Paisley?
Jimmy Wayne?
Keith Urban?
Trent
Willmon?
Sugarland?
Montgomery Gentry?
Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
And yet...
I love George Strait. It's amazing that he's managed to go this far and this long
and still be widely embraced and accepted. Alan Jackson. "Remember When" is our new love song, but that's because
we're old...
Our new love song USED to be "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
by Bonnie Tyler. Ah, youth.
And my all time most amazing country singer in the world and time will prove me right on this...
Reba.
There is a gal who can do it all and looks great
all the while. Love her, love her, love her.
She never seems
tainted by fame and fortune, the work, the scheduling, the craziness, the zaniness.
Amazing.
